Help for Federal Workers who have been laid off
I’ve lost count of how many dedicated, hard working federal employees have lost their jobs. It can be difficult to fathom the impact this is having on individuals and families – these are people with mouths to feed, bills to pay who decided to work for the government as a way of helping to have a positive impact on people’s lives not only here in the US, but around the world. Many of them have only had the experience of working for the government and haven’t looked for a job for years.
As you probably know, LinkedIn is a huge platform for people looking for a job as well as employers looking to hire. Having an up to date and well written/designed LinkedIn profile is an important piece of any job search strategy. Fortunately, there are a number of excellent resources available to help you create/refine your LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn itself has some of these resources, there are LinkedIn experts like @Terri Teague who are offering LinkedIn “How to” workshops, books such as “LinkedIn Profile Optimization for Dummies” by @Donna Serdula. And here in Massachusetts, Governor Maura Healey has openly invited federal workers to apply to the state for jobs, the Massachusetts Department of Career Services has MassHire Career Centers where you can get career counseling/resume help, attend job fairs, and more.
One of my goals when I started my business was to use it as a vehicle to give back – so when I saw a fellow photographer in the DC area offer free headshots to federal employees who have been laid off, I immediately thought what a great idea!
So, if you were a federal employee affected by the layoffs here in the Boston area I want to help – I’m offering a complementary headshot for your LinkedIn profile at my Wellesley studio. You’ll need proof of former employment and termination to qualify. To learn more and schedule your session, please visit this page on my website:
