"As most of you know, I recently started at Cohn & Dussi, LLC last month. I appreciate that the firm values my ability to "take the ball and run with it." I am in a unique position where I am able to meld my prior transactional and litigation experiences together in one role.
One thing the firm has has is a great connection to a number of people who bolster its image. Barry is one of those people. One of the highlights from my first month was working with Barry at my headshot session. Barry had a way of making me feel comfortable about smiling in my shot, something I've often been self-conscious of in my life - I prefer to smirk. Although I ended up choosing another shot, what I reflect on from our session was the process Barry took to arrive at this particular shot, which was the very last one of the session. It tells a story - that you can be a competent lawyer and not sacrifice showing approachability as a human being to others.
I give Barry Braunstein the highest of recommendations to anyone in need of a professional headshot. You'll be getting someone who will help you tell your story as a professional.
What's my story? I am fond of President Washington - and one of his most famous quotes on character:
"Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder."

I’m a Boston area headshot photographer and have been in love with photography ever since I was a kid marveling at the powerful images of people and places created by Life Magazine and National Geographic photographers. I’ve been shooting since high school, and over the years many people told me I should turn pro.
So, after a long and successful career in high-technology I decided to turn this hobby into a full time business. To refine my skills, I studied under the world's top headshot photographer, and then added my own style and approach. I utilize my years of experience in marketing and sales to work with businesses and individual clients to create images that reflect their brand and the best of who they are, showing confidence, approachability, trustworthiness, and likeability. My clients are often amazed at how much fun sessions are, particularly those who dread having their picture taken, and that they love their images - that makes my day!
I also believe in giving back, and have used my business to help organizations such as The Boston Food Bank, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Ben Speaks, WGBH, The Handel and Hayden Society, Portraits for Patriots, Wellesley Public Schools, and others.
No matter your niche, you deserve the spotlight!

This depends on how you plan on using the shot (business vs. entertainment vs. other). It’s good to bring several options to the shoot and well see what works best. We'll discuss this beforehand during our phone consultation, but here are some things to consider:
Bring clothes that you feel comfortable in, that are classy (particularly for business purposes) and match your style and personality. Avoid clothes that are too tight/uncomfortable.
Make sure any clothes that you bring are clean and neatly pressed especially for collared shirts and suits. The camera is very high resolution and you’d be amazed at what it will show.
For headshots, pants/the lower part of your body won’t be in most of the pictures, but it’s still a good idea to bring some good-looking pants for the shoot. For many non-business shoots, blue Jeans always look great on camera (yes, even with a white shirt), unless they are dingy and torn.
Avoid jewelry or other accessories – it detracts from the face, which is the main subject of the image. You can wear glasses, however it's not always possible to eliminate the glare entirely.
In general you want to avoid clothes with busy patterns. Solid colors are best but avoid bright colors as they detract the viewer from your face. Wearing a dark jacket over a bright shirt can lessen the effect.
Buttoned shirts, jackets, V-neck and u-neck sweaters and shirts generally work well.
For men, solid colored shirts (e.g, white, blue, cream, etc.) are good choices. If you’re wearing a sports jacket or suit, darker solid colors are always preferable (muted stripes are OK). If you’re going to be wearing a tie, bring several options.
For women, pick colors that complement your makeup/eye color/eye shadow and skin tone. Business oriented tank-tops generally look good, as do stylish shirts that button.
Finally, be well rested and hydrated the day before and the day of your shoot – you’ll look and feel better.
Men: Most of the time men can get by without using professional hair and makeup, but let me know if you have oily skin. Sometimes a powder or foundation can help even out skin tones and keep the face from looking shiny. Be sure to bring your comb or hair brush, along with any hair product you may use.
Women: While not required I generally recommend professional makeup. A professional makeup artist knows how to help you look your best in front of a camera. If you don't plan on using a makeup artist, be sure to bring your makeup with you for last minute touchups. Also be sure to bring a hair brush along with any hair spray or gel you use.
Actors, entertainers, and other artists need different types of shots depending on the intended purpose(s) of the photos. For example, actors may require different headshots depending on the roles and what type of look you’re going for. Musicians may or may not want their instrument in the photograph, etc. In addition:
Consult with your agent (if you have one) on what you need. They have experience in the industry and more importantly, they know what you need to book more jobs.
If you don't have an agent, then it’s good to get a simple, clean, smiling/upbeat/happy look with minimal retouching to show what you (primarily your headshot) looks like. For dramatic roles, a more dramatic look is also good to have.
